OCI Vacuum Microengineering has been grown out of research being done at a number of universities in Europe, Canada and the United States. The company has a very strong commitment to research and development because of the potential for future commercial opportunities.
Our company manufacturers rear-view LEED-Auger (AES) spectrometers providing nano-scale measurement of the surface periodic structures as well as quantitative elemental analysis using fine electron probe. The spectrometer line is offered in several configurations including mounting flange size 8"CF, 6"CF and 4.5"CF, electron probe current and beam size ranges from micro-amps to femto-amps, different detectors (basic hemispherical luminescent, micro-channel plates & pulsed with delay-line), and high energy resolution grids.
In addition, the ion sputtering guns, custom electron guns, ion sources, analyzers and electron gun for inverse-photoemission with energy selector are offered. The units are controlled by dedicated electronics and software featuring simple analog or fully digital convenient control including an on-board microprocessor with USB computer interface.
The continuous R&D effort is dedicated towards fine improvements to the existing products line and new applications of our tools. OCI technology combined with an associated set of advanced tools and methods is enabling the exploration of atomic, molecular and material properties to create solutions for environmental, energy, computing, and medical fields. OCI supports global materials research laboratories with innovative technology that targets state-of-art development in these very critical areas.
OCI's recent R&D development focuses on Lithium-ion batteries. Our system solution for testing battery electrodes was recognized by the Defence Innovation Award in 2020 provided by the US based TechConnect organization. This product category was also pre-qualified by Innovative Solutions Canada for Testing Stream in 2021.
In 2020, OCI also received a Phase 1 award from Innovative Solutions Canada funded by Global Affair Canada for high-efficiency energy producing window solar shutters that implement technology used by NASA and space satellites in addition to our own solution targeting harvesting infrared solar spectrum.
Innovation activities at OCI are also recognized by London Chamber of Commerce to be as a finalist for 2021 Business Achievement Award - Innovation category.
